Strengthening Governance and Accountability Mechanisms for Better Early Childhood Development Outcomes in Africa

An effective governance system is fundamental to successful policy development, coordination, resourcing, implementation, and evaluation of ECD service delivery. Therefore, understanding the existing governance mechanisms is critical to identifying gaps and opportunities for improving ECD service delivery on the African continent. The purpose of this landscape analysis was to document the existing ECD governance mechanisms with reference to existing policies, institutional frameworks, financing arrangements, barriers to policy implementation, and recommendations for strengthening governance mechanisms for ECD services in Africa.
