Are you passionate about care for children 0 – 8 and the plight of childcare workers? Do you have a couple of hours to volunteer?
We need you!
We serve childcare workers and the children under their care, and our growing network of childcare workers now stands at over 7,000 alone. We would like to welcome volunteers to support our Women in Childcare members by supporting our fundraising with private companies and local business to support them.
We are looking for volunteers with the following skills:
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – to lead local fundraising efforts to mobilise support for childcare workers and children under 8 in Kenya with initial focus in Nairobi and Kisumu Counties.
- Business Development – to support the building of Uthabiti’s sustainability initiatives
- Writing, Editing and Documentation – to support the drafting, editing and finalization of key documents
- Training and Enterprise development
- International fundraising – to support Uthabiti’s international fundraising including cultivating funder relationships, identifying opportunities and supporting the drafting of concepts, proposals and bids
Key Responsibilities
Working under the direction of Uthabiti staff, volunteers identify funding opportunities (both financial and in-kind) that respond to the needs of childcare workers in Kisumu and Nairobi Counties.
- Identify and approach local partners (non-profits and corporates) with clear asks for support.
- Review documents (reports, newsletters, case studies etc)
- Review communication channels for the organization (websites, social media etc)
- Improve brand of the organization (presentations templates, logos)
- Data clean-up and analysis.
- Work with childcare entrepreneurs for training and enterprise development.
- Events planning and coordination.
Desired skills, qualities and experience
- Fluent in English and/or Kiswahili.
- Passionate about children, childcare, and Early Childhood Care Education & Development (ECCED).
- Understand the needs and priorities of children and childcare workers.
- Experience in local fundraising.
